Beautiful weather and big bass promise to treat anglers participating in the first FLW competitions of the 2017 season on Saturday. The T-H Marine Bass Fishing League's Gator Division opens with a tournament at Lake Okeechobee in Clewiston, Fla. At the same time, YETI FLW College Fishing starts the year off at Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga.
If you love to fish for bass, then it's safe to assume you've planned a vacation or two around where and when the fishing was good - you know, just in case there's a free morning available in between sightseeing trips.

The 2017 FLW Tour roster is now final and will include 165 professional anglers. Headlining the 2017 Tour are the current and three-time Angler of the Year Andy Morgan of Dayton, Tenn., and the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup champion John Cox of DeBary, Fla. They'll be joined by nine former FLW Tour AOY winners, six former Forrest Wood Cup champions and 30 Tour rookies.

The 2016 season was my first year to have the honor of representing the FLW Foundation, both on the water and at Unified Fishing Derby events for local youths at each tournament. It was truly a great year, and I consider myself very blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of it all.
Our first Tour stop is at the world-famous Lake Guntersville. There's not a single tournament fisherman in the land that isn't familiar with this fishery and its reputation for big bass, and for living up to the hype.

With regard to catching those winter bruisers, a few FLW fans had questions about the best approaches, as well as the weather's impact on the aquatic world. A crew of FLW Tour pros was happy to answer their questions.
Last season Jody and I had the opportunity to jump in the boat with the winners of each FLW Tour event, along with some of the Costa FLW Series champions, throughout the season in an effort to give fishing fans a first-hand look at the winning strategies and tactics they used.
