Northeastern Oklahoma Fishing Report Part 1

Report Date 3/30/11

Carl Blackwell: March 28. Elevation 6 ft. below normal, water 52 and murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 8-12 ft. Saugeye fair trolling crankbaits and plastic baits. Report submitted by Jon Cunningham, game warden stationed in Payne County.

Copan: March 28. Elevation above normal, water clear. Crappie good on minnows at 4-6 ft. near the Highway 10 Bridge and in Cotton Creek before the recent drop in air temperature. Blue and channel catfish fair on juglines baited with cut shad. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.

Eucha: March 29. Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 52 and dingy. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 10-12 ft. around brush and structure. Largemouth bass fair on jerk baits and spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa.

Ft. Gibson: March 27.  Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 54 and clear. White bass good on Mr. Twister grubs and twin tail Bobby Garland jigs in the rivers and creeks. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits and Biffle Bugs at 5-15 ft. Crappie good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs at 5-15 ft. around structure. Report submitted by Rick Stafford of Wagoner.

Greenleaf: March 29. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits along shorelines, riprap, rocky points and brush structure. Catfish good on fresh cut bait on bottom near the spillway, creek channels and the upper end of the lake. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs in yellow, red and green along fishing docks and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

Hudson: March 28. Elevation normal. Largemouth bass good on jerk baits and spinnerbaits. White bass good on small lures and plugs. Crappie good at 2-6 ft. along brush piles in shallow areas. Paddlefish good in the upper end of the lake below Pensacola dam. Report submitted by Steve Loveland, game warden stationed in Rogers and Mayes counties.

Hulah: March 28. Elevation above normal, water clear. Crappie good on minnows and jigs at 4-8 ft. Crappie being caught in Skull Creek and Turkey Creek. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.
