Day one of the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Lake Oneida showed off in multiple ways. From perfect upstate New York weather to an abundance of feisty smallmouths, nearly everything came up roses. Early in weigh-in, Michael Hall of Annandale, Va., dropped 17 pounds, 7 ounces on the scale and he rode it all the way to the day one lead despite numerous challenges that fell just slightly short.
So far, day one of the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida Lake has provided the anglers a perfect playing field for catching bass.
Day one of the Costa FLW Series Northern Division finale kicked off on Oneida Lake this morning with pleasantly cool temps, light sprinkles with a clearing sky and just a chance of rain in the forecast- a welcome respite for pros who battled adverse conditions through much of practice. Presented by Ranger Boats, the tournament promises a lot of fish-catching action, and both smallmouths and largemouths could contend for the win.

Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), the world's largest tournament-fishing organization, announced an exclusive licensing agreement with WJ Lindeque CC, of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, to begin sanctioning FLW bass-fishing tournaments in South Africa. The agreement was signed by FLW President of Operations Kathy Fennel and Hannes Lindeque, a managing member of WJ Lindeque CC.
This week, the Costa FLW Series Northern Division hits Oneida Lake August 18-20 for the final stop of the Northern Division's season. The tournament, presented by Ranger, will decide who wins the Angler of the Year title, finalize the qualifiers for the Costa FLW Series Championship this fall on Table Rock and show off one of the Northeast's best tournament lakes.
This time of year the water is really hot, so a lot of bass are out suspended or schooled up. Where I live in Texas, the fish suspend a lot in treetops.

John Cox has been steadily toiling on the Walmart FLW Tour scene for a few years, but has really exploded on the scene over the last two seasons with the cherry on top being recently crowned the 2016 Forrest Wood Cup champion on Wheeler Lake a little over a week ago.

Ed Casey of Whiteford, Maryland, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds, 4 ounces, Saturday to win the fourth FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Northeast Division tournament of 2016 on Oneida Lake presented by Power-Pole. For his efforts, Casey took home $6,009.
Neil McCord of West Frankfort, Kentucky, brought a five bass limit totaling 17 pounds, 10 ounces, to the scale Saturday to win the fourth FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Illini Division tournament of 2016 on Rend Lake presented by Navionics. McCord earned $5,917 for his win.
