Plenty of pros caught largemouths in the Costa FLW Series Northern Division event on Oneida, winner Cory Johnston even weighed a few in on the first two days, but it was brown fish that dominated the top 10. From second to tenth, what follows is how the best figured them out.

One of only three pros to bring limits to the stage on the final day of the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida Lake, Cory Johnston earned the win by more than 4 pounds. In total, the Cavan, Ontario, pro toted 14 pounds, 1 ounce to the scale on the final day for a 50-4 total that earned him $32,778 and a new Ranger Z518.
Staying consistent day by day, Christopher Hall of South Abington Township, Pa., climbed his way up the leaderboard for the co-angler win in the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida. Checking in with 15 pounds, 12 ounces on day one, 14-3 on day two, and 16-1 on the final day, Hall weighed an even 46 pounds total for the win and a new Ranger Z117 with a 90 horsepower outboard.
Day by day in the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida, differing fishing conditions have challenged the field. Today, on the final day, the conditions are as different as possible from the slick calm that had Oneida looking like a big puddle for much of the second day. As the top 10 anglers readied their boats in the parking lot before takeoff, a strong wind could be heard rushing through the trees overhead. On the lake, that wind translated into easy 3-footers in places that are only now beginning to subside.

After weigh-in on day one, all the pros in the top 10 of the Costa FLW Series Northern Division event presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida were tightly packed. After day two, Cory Johnston managed to separate himself from the field by virtue of being the only pro to improve on an already outstanding day. Though Johnston's lead seems sizeable, tomorrow is another day, and any of the pros in the top 10 could challenge for the win on Saturday.
The second day of competition in the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida Lake was a statement day from Cory Johnston. Johnston, looking to wrap up the Northern Division Angler of the Year title and a win, smashed 18-13 and moved from an ounce behind the leader to a full 2 pounds, 8 ounces ahead of the field.
Though sunny skies have prevailed since takeoff, the wind freshened considerably as the day has worn on. Even around 10:30 a.m., Oneida was still as slick as a puddle and frustrating a fair number of pros. Since then, a steady east wind has gotten up and the conditions are perhaps as good as they could be for fishing. As for techniques, umbrella rigs are seeing a lot of action today, but there are still plenty of pros tossing topwaters and drop-shot rigs.

The first day of competition in the Costa FLW Series presented by Ranger Boats on Oneida showed just how much of a completion it's going to be. In total, 21 different pros brought more than 15 pounds to the scale, and the top five pros are separated by only 5 ounces. Though Michael Hall has jumped out to the early lead, he's got plenty of sticks hot on his heels.
