Birch Blasts 33-8

Day one of the Costa FLW Series event on the California Delta presented by Power-Pole proved to be a bit more challenging than expected. A cold front brought high winds making it difficult to dissect the acres of big-fish holding vegetation famous on the Delta. Local knowledge proved to have the edge as Mike Birch of Oakley, Calif., sacked up 33 pounds, 8 ounces to take a commanding lead of 10-15 over Sean Minderman of Spokane, Wash.

Delta Duel Underway

Day one of the Costa FLW Series event on the California Delta presented by Power-Pole kicked off this morning out of Russo's Marina. While the Delta is one of the more famed fisheries in the country, it'll still test the abilities of the 109 pros and co-anglers that blasted off from Russo's Marina this morning. This tournament will be about overcoming frontal conditions in order to claim the $32,000 top prize.

Lew’s Museum To Open in Springfield

The grand opening will begin with the meet-and-greet, followed by remarks from Lew's officials and guests begin at 2 p.m., and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The museum opens to tours afterwards and closes at 6 p.m.

FLW Foundation Offering Grants to FL HS Fishing Clubs

The Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Foundation has announced the availability of grants to Student Angler Federation (SAF)-affiliated high school fishing clubs in Florida of up to $500 per school to establish new or expand existing clubs. The grants are offered via a two-year initiative with the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

FLW China Kicks Off

FLW China launched its inaugural six-tournament season in late March and is now one-third of the way toward determining its first-ever Costa FLW Series Championship qualifiers from the International Division.

Prior to the 1992 All-American, I'd been considering making the leap to fishing professionally. I'd been fishing what were Redman tournaments (now BFLs) for years, and a lot of local team tournaments. I'd even won a Redman and qualified for the Regional two or three years in a row.

2016 Cup Bubble Boys

The 2016 Forrest Wood Cup at Wheeler Lake is still almost three months out, but in Walmart FLW Tour tournament terms, only two events remain for pros to earn enough Angler of the Year points to qualify for the Cup.

Western Division Finale Set for Cal Delta

The Costa FLW Series Western Division regular season comes to a close on the California Delta this week. The event, which is presented by Power-Pole, will take off from Russo's Marina starting on May 19. The season finale will feature big bass, berths to the Costa FLW Series Championship at Table Rock Lake and a Strike King Angler of the Year title crowning.

Lilly Nets Title on Douglas

Travis Lilly of Bluff City, Tennessee, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 20 pounds, 13 ounces, Saturday to win the FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Volunteer Division tournament on Douglas Lake presented by Navionics. For his victory, Lilly took home $3,794.

Kevin Chandler of New London, North Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 20 pounds, 12 ounces, Saturday to win the FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) North Carolina Division tournament on High Rock Lake presented by Navionics. Chandler took home $6,119 for his victory.
