After winning the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Ouachita last fall, Brad Knight certainly has an affinity for Arkansas. Like many, Knight has stubbed his toe a time or two on Beaver Lake, but he's made $10,000 each of the last two stops at the lake, and the Ozark impoundment fishes a little like some of the lakes he's familiar with back in east Tennessee. I joined him for the final morning of practice to see how he broke down Beaver before the Walmart FLW Tour presented by Jack Link's kicks off in earnest on Thursday.
For most anglers Beaver Lake conjures up thoughts of light line, clear water and abundant populations of largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass. This time, however, Beaver is a whole new animal, as torrential rains during the winter have left nearly three-quarters of the lake highly stained.

The Bass Federation National Championship, that organization's biggest high-stakes tournament of the year, will open Thursday morning out of Port of Kimberling on the shore of Table Rock Lake. TBF anglers from 45 states, the District of Columbia and the Canadian province of Ontario will vie for more than $200,000 in cash and prizes.

Mark Morgan of Somerset, Kentucky, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 1 ounce, Saturday to win the second FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Mountain Division tournament of 2016 on Dale Hollow Lake. For his victory, Morgan took home $6,830.
Jeff Queen of Catawba, North Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 20 pounds, 9 ounces, Saturday to win the second FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) North Carolina Division tournament of 2016 on Kerr Lake presented by Power-Pole. For his victory, Queen took home $4,507.
Kevin Chandler of New London, North Carolina, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds, 8 ounces, Saturday to win the third FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Savannah River Division tournament of 2016 on Lake Russell. For his victory, Chandler took home $5,466.
Jimmy Washam of Covington, Tennessee, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 18 pounds, 4 ounces, Saturday to win the FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) Mississippi Division tournament on Pickwick Lake presented by Navionics. For his victory, Washam took home $7,273.
When the Walmart FLW Tour event presented by Jack Link's kicks off Thursday morning on Beaver Lake it will be under pretty atypical conditions for the Ozark impoundment.
The Costa FLW Series Southwestern Division event presented by Evinrude and hosted by the City of Grove didn't showcase the best that Grand Lake has to offer, but it produced some big weights and fish nonetheless. If you're faced with an Ozark impoundment during a tough spring bite, the baits that the top 10 pros relied on might be good starting points.
