You see some things when you're on the water for 10 months covering tournaments from Florida to California. Most of the time our on-the-water team has its cameras trained on the anglers, but every once in a while something from nature intervenes that is just too cool to pass up.

Fishing tournaments as a co-angler is a great first step to take toward a more advanced level of competitive bass fishing. Not only do you get more time on the water, you often end up fishing behind some very experienced anglers that can teach you some valuable lessons.

Alabama pro Richard Peek will forego the 2016 Walmart FLW Tour season to resolve back problems. Peek, of Centre, Ala., was told by his doctor that he should take off a year from tournament fishing so that surgery or other measures could be performed to correct a spinal deformity and relieve his pain.
Rose, who turned pro in 2001, has racked up multiple wins, including 11 top-10 finishes in Tour competition from 2009-2014. Among his career highlights was being named the recipient of the 2012 Forrest L. Wood Sportsmanship and Community Leadership Award for exemplifying the ideals of sportsmanship and community service.
One of the best moves I made early on was to familiarize myself with how things are rigged in my boat: electronics, trolling motor, Power-Poles, trailer lights - whatever. Now I rig up just about everything myself, and if there's an issue with something, I probably know how things work well enough to fix the problem.

With the completion of the Walmart Bass Fishing League Wild Card at Lake Hartwell - won by Mike Devere - all but The Bass Federation National Championship qualifiers are in place for the 2016 BFL All-American June 8-11 on Barkley Lake presented by the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission.
Second-year pro Cody Kelley of Conway, Ark., will represent the FLW Foundation on the Walmart FLW Tour in 2016. As part of the agreement, Kelley will organize and host a youth fishing-derby at each FLW Tour event.
Over the years, I have compiled a list of items that are oftentimes not associated with bass fishing but that play critical roles for me each time I'm on the water and need to modify baits. These little tools and trinkets can be used to improve your success rate, but will not be found in a local bait shop. Instead, they're found in the aisles of local hardware and craft stores. To recognize their value, you have to think outside the box a little bit.

For some of us, the Forrest Woods Cup's memories are still fresh. They come back again and again to give us moments of satisfaction and joy as we're reminded of the great times we had during those hot summer days at Hot Springs.
