I jumped on the big-spoon bandwagon and got some just in time to be in on the tail end of the prime-time season for them. It seems to me that it's another one of those typical niche-type deals where it's a heck of a bait when they're on it, but not so much at other times.

The FLW College Fishing Southern Conference Invitational at Sam Rayburn Reservoir Oct. 25-26 was a close one with first, second and third place decided by barely more than a pound of Texas bass. The top teams found similar patterns and game plans in Rayburn's shallow grass, and each committed to a small area for the entirety of the event.
When day one of the Walmart Bass Fishing League Chevy Wild Card on Kentucky Lake commenced, J.R. Henard got right to the point, sacking up a limit by 8:30 a.m. and never looking back. For two days, he kept his foot on the gas and hauled in a tournament-winning total of 42 pounds, 5 ounces - nearly 12 pounds better than second place - and a top prize of $4,478, plus entry into the 2015 BFL All-American.

ROGERSVILLE, Ala. - Despite his young age, Zack Birge fished with the poise of seasoned veteran to capture the Rayovac FLW Series Championship on Wheeler Lake. Birge steadily climbed the ranks throughout the event catching more weight every day. The 23-year-old Oklahoma resident racked up 47 pounds over three days of competition and walked away with the $50,000 top prize.
ROGERSVILLE, Ala. - James Callaghan got matched up with the right pros when it counted the most here in the 2014 Rayovac FLW Series Championship on Lake Wheeler and his three-day total weight of 24 pounds, 3 ounces won him the co-angler title and the Ranger Z117 boat package that went with it.

ROGERSVILLE, Ala. - Before the week began Zack Birge of Blanchard, Okla., couldn't have imaged the way things would ultimately play out for him. At just 23 years old, Birge was able to climb his way to the top of the standings in the Rayovac FLW Series Championship here on Wheeler Lake against some of the biggest names in tournament fishing. His catch of 47 pounds over the three days of competition was enough to secure him the title by 7 pounds and give him a $50,000 payday as well as a berth in the 2015 Forrest Wood Cup.
