My view from the back

Following a fairly successful career as a college angler, I decided to keep progressing up the tournament ladder. The year after graduating from the University of Florida, I fished what was then the Rayovac FLW Series as a professional angler. While I enjoyed some success in my first two tournaments, I quickly realized I had a lot to learn as I got farther away from my home waters.

The first annual Don Lee Memorial Tournament is set for Saturday, Sept. 13 out of Russo's Marina on the California Delta, and features a team format.

There might not be enough topwater fish to win a tournament, but it's a lot of fun, especially if you're just out fishing for the heck of it. Topwater fishing in the summer is all about the baitfish.

Dalbey hosts food drive at Kentucky Lake

Rich Dalbey, FLW professional angler, will host a food drive for the Food Bank of Northern Alabama. Rich Dalbey, who has won over $140,000.00 in FLW sponsored fishing events, has qualified for the Forrest L. Wood Cup Championship Tournament three times, finishing third in 2012, as a co-angler.

Rose and Haynes: Brothers of the Ledge

Walmart FLW Tour pros Randy Haynes and Mark Rose - two of the nation's top ledge fishermen - are not lifelong buddies. They met about seven years ago during Rose's victory at the FLW Series event on Pickwick Lake. However, the close relationship they've established since then is solid and a bit incongruous in a sport where individual accomplishment is paramount and friendly rivalries predominate.

Rayovac FLW Series Headed to Potomac River

The Rayovac FLW Series is headed to the Potomac River June 19-21 for a tournament presented by Evinrude where as many as 300 pros and co-anglers will take to the water for the first stop of 2014 in the Northern Division.
