PARIS LANDING, Tenn. - If the Walmart FLW Tour event presented by Evinrude needed a theme song, David Bowie's rendition of "Under Pressure" would be as good as it gets. The entire field will be under more pressure than usual as the four-day competition opens this morning. There's the pressure to win or at least take advantage of a final opportunity to take home a good check this season, the pressure to pull out all the stops and make up ground in the Angler of the Year standings and gain entry into the Forrest Wood Cup, the pressure to not take chances and lose a shot at the Cup - and so it goes.

The Walmart FLW Tour wraps up its season this week on Kentucky Lake - which is presented by Evinrude - for the sixth and final qualifier of the year. This is the last chance for anglers to make a move in the points race to try and clinch their spot for the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Murray taking place Aug. 14-17.

Rookies in name only

In times past, a tournament circuit rookie was a dilettante whose expectations were matched by his inexperience. He was likely to catch a few fish here and there, and hopefully learn something that might help him down the trail. In short, he paid his dues while the big boys fought it out for prominence and paychecks.

The 2014 Walmart BFL season continues with six tournaments on Saturday, June 28. The Buckeye Division will ply the waters of the Ohio River, the Bulldog Division will head to Lake Eufaula, the Michigan Division will open their season on Lake St. Clair, the Mississippi Division will compete on Lake Ferguson, the Music City division is set to fish Old Hickory Lake and the North Carolina Division will visit High Rock Lake. Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing in each event for top awards up to $8,000 and $3,000 respectively.
