Big wind, big lakes, big bass - it's a perfect storyline for the "everything's-bigger-in-Texas" shootout that's playing out at the Sam Rayburn Walmart FLW Tour event presented by Chevy.
It's more of the same for the pros on the Walmart FLW Tour - more of the same challenging weather conditions, that is. In the wake of the Lake Hartwell stop of the Walmart FLW Tour, where pros dealt with rain, temperatures in the 30s and high winds, the forecast at the Sam Rayburn FLW Tour event presented by Chevy is for air temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the mid-70s all week, but rain, thunderstorms and high winds expected for the first two days.

Matching Jigs, Trailers and Line To Water Conditions
When I'm fishing a jig, about all I ever throw is a 1/2-ounce War Eagle. There are times when a lighter or heavier jig works better, though. Sam Rayburn Reservoir marks the third of six regular-season stops on the Walmart FLW Tour. It's the first time the FLW Tour has been back to Rayburn since the Open held in the fall 2012. With the season already a third of the way over, the race is beginning to tighten for the Angler of the Year title along with earning valuable points to qualify for the Forrest Wood Cup Aug. 14-17. Rayburn is a massive fishery that sprawls nearly 115,000 acres of grass, stumps and offshore structure. Sight-fishing is predicted to play a vital role, however, both pre- and postspawn patterns shouldn't be ruled out. With that in mind, below are five pros that bear monitoring as competition begins Thursday.
The fishing world was saddened by the news that Donna Menendez, wife of B.A.S.S. Elite Series pro Mark Menendez of Paducah, Ky., lost her long battle with pancreatic cancer Tuesday morning. Donna's survivors include two young children, a boy and a girl. In 2012, Mark Menendez suspended his pro fishing career to care for his wife. Funeral arrangements are pending.
