SENECA, S.C. - It wasn't exactly the conditions that the 2014 FLW College Fishing National Championship field had hoped for. With blustery winds, cloudy skies and frigid conditions serving as backdrop to Thursday's opening round of competition, the top 49 college teams in the nation set out onto the open waters of Lake Keowee bundled from head to toe in search of one of the most difficult titles to obtain in all of college bass fishing.
SENECA, S.C. - Give Mother Nature credit for one thing - she is relentless. After finally bringing sunshine and seasonal temperatures to the Carolinas, she delivered yet another whopping cold front Tuesday - this one wicked enough to freeze rod guides in March. The only creatures more confused than the 176 Walmart FLW Tour pros are the Lake Hartwell bass, which were beginning to push towards the bank before slamming on the breaks.

SENECA, S.C. - The second event in the 19th season of the major leagues of professional bass-fishing, the Walmart FLW Tour, kicks off March 6-9 with the Walmart FLW Tour on Lake Hartwell presented by Ranger Boats. Hosted by the Mountain Lakes Convention and Visitors Bureau, the tournament will feature 178 of the world's best bass-fishing pros and 178 co-anglers casting for top awards of up to $125,000 cash in the pro division and up to $25,000 cash in the co-angler division
SENECA, S.C. - FLW College Fishing is headed to Lake Keowee March 6-8 for the FLW College Fishing National Championship presented by the Lowrance Insight Genesis College Cup. Forty-nine college teams will be competing for a top award of a Ranger Z117 and entry into the 2014 Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing.
There are going to be times when you want to use the exact same lure on a different outfit with different line weights. Maybe you want the lure to dive deeper or shallower, or you're fishing different type of bottom where it's to your advantage to fish a stronger, heavier line. With experience, you can pretty much look at a rig and tell whether it's got 6-, 8- or 12-pound-test line on it, but it's still helpful to mark the rig somehow.

Brett Hite caught some giant largemouths to win the Lake Okeechobee Tour event, but this week at Lake Hartwell he will be shifting gears to catch giant spotted bass.
