I was recently in a conversation with a friend of mine about people who seem to have a knack for making things happen. As I was listening, he made a statement that made me stop him dead in the middle of a sentence and go back to repeat. "It's all about finding your fuel," he said.
Anyone that has spent time as a professional angler will quickly realize that fishing at the highest level comes with its ups and downs. Scott Suggs has been down that road from winning the 2007 Forrest Wood Cup - and a $1 million dollar payday - to logging finishes in the 100s. After failing to qualify for the Cup last year, Suggs is back on pace to make it back to the biggest stage in bass fishing.

The first FLW Tour event of the season at Lake Okeechobee is in the books. It wasn't the tournament I had hoped for but I squeaked out of there with a small $4,000 check. The first day of the tournament was just one of those days where if it could go wrong, it did. At takeoff I had an issue with my hot foot and had to come back in to get it fixed and lost the only two decent bites I had in the event. Although I had some issues, at this level you need to be able to overcome those things and still catch them. Tharp had the same problem with the hot foot and still managed to whack `em and finish in the top five.

IUKA, Miss. - Chris Quaintance of Muscle Shoals, Ala., weighed a three-bass limit totaling 13 pounds, 10 ounces Saturday to win the first Walmart Bass Fishing League Mississippi Division tournament of 2014 on Pickwick Lake. For his victory, Quaintance earned $3,879.
ZWOLLE, La. - The Lamar University team of Quinton Evans of Orange, Texas, and Colby Ogden of Kountze, Texas, won the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference tournament on Toledo Bend Saturday with five bass weighing 19 pounds, 6 ounces. Their win qualified them for the 2014 Southern Conference Invitational on Sam Rayburn Reservoir.

The BFL South Carolina Division event originally scheduled for Feb. 15 on Lake Murray out of Dreher Island State Park has been rescheduled for July 12. The Lake Murray contest will still take place out of Dreher Island State Park. For more information, call (270) 252-1000.
