The farthest I ever ran in a tournament was in 2000. It was the FLW Tour event on the Mississippi River out of Memphis, Tenn. I ended up running 180 miles one way, fishing two hours, and running 180 miles back. I checked in with four minutes to spare.

Looking ahead to the 2014 FLW Tour, I basically like the lakes that the events are scheduled for and have fished all of these lakes in the past. The season opener on Lake Okeechobee is similar to my home lake in Japan. I also have won the FLW Tour event at the "Big O" before.

One of the things that always gets my attention at the end of the fishing season is just how much abuse our bodies take as professional anglers. I'm sure there arguments on both sides of this question, but I have to ask it anyways - are pro fishermen really pro athletes? I'm going to argue that we are.
