Though some anglers contend that rattling baits don't necessarily attract strikes, and might even deter them, the preponderance of evidence favors the rattle crowd. Virtually every hard lure made nowadays - crankbaits, jerkbaits, stick baits and so forth - can be had in rattling and silent versions.

First of all, this is my first blog for FLWOutdoors.com. Honestly I am not really a sit-at-your-desk type of person. And, in addition, there are some language barriers for me so I'm going to do my best to entertain the readers as much as I can. However, despite some of these hurdles, I like a new challenge and will give it a try.

Bass are wandering all over lakes now, fattening up for winter. During fall, the bass tend to get more scattered and that's when a rattle bait becomes a good search bait. Keep the trolling motor running and cover a lot of water quickly. Then, if you do get on a bunch of fish, you can slow down and fish something else if it calls for it.

While most people in their early 20s are still figuring out what to do with their lives, 23-year-old Philip Jarabeck has already accomplished his goal - being a professional angler. After wrapping up his first season as a pro on the Walmart FLW Tour, Jarabeck doesn't plan on making a career change anytime soon.

Every anglers' dream is to roll up to the spot they found during their practice period, take a few casts and catch nothing but "ga ga ga giant bass" like Dave Mercer will say. Unfortunately, more times than not, these types of days do NOT happen ... at least for me.

POTTSBORO, Texas - Jeff Reynolds of Calera, Okla., won the Walmart Bass Fishing League (BFL) Regional on Lake Texoma with a three-day total of 15 bass totaling 42 pounds, 2 ounces. For his victory, Reynolds won a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard plus a Chevy 1500 Silverado and entry into the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. This regional tournament featured the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers from each of the Arkie, Cowboy, Okie and Ozark divisions.

As a general rule, the treble hooks on the lures of most tournament pros aren't original equipment. Less-expensive stock trebles are usually replaced with ultra-sharp premium hooks of the angler's choice.

In an effort to bring the pros closer to the fans, FLW has announced the creation of FLW Podcast. During each audio podcast, FLW hosts Joe Opager and Jody White will discuss a host of different issues of interest to bass-fishing fans. In addition, during each podcast installment, Opager and White will interview a different FLW Tour pro in an attempt to get their thoughts on myriad topics.
