September 20, 2013 8:52 am
The Forrest Wood Cup is the Super Bowl of bass fishing and the Red River, along with the city of Shreveport and Bossier City, served as the perfect venue. This was my 11th straight Cup in my 11 years on the FLW Tour and I'm so glad I got to experience this one.

Like it is for most anglers, Ken Golub's rookie season on the Walmart FLW Tour was a trying one. Year two showed marked improvement as the New York pro cashed checks in four of the six regular-season events and narrowly missed qualifying for the Forrest Wood Cup.

Destination: Cal Delta

Anchored by the convergence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers, along with countless tributaries and rural streams, Delta waters comprise a labyrinthine of navigable arteries, all subject to tidal influence through their common connection to San Francisco Bay. There's plenty of area to spread out and select your own little piece of paradise, but don't be surprised if you find yourself overwhelmed with a dilemma borne of abundance - in other words, it all looks fishy.
