Coverage of the 2013 Forrest Wood Cup will be broadcast in high-definition (HD) on NBC when "FLW" airs Sept. 29 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. ET. A quick glance before takeoff at a Walmart FLW Tour event will uncover that most of the competitors drive high-end fiberglass bass boats decked out to the max. One boat, however, is not like the others. In fact, you'd probably think the 20-foot, 2-inch aluminum boat is best suited to tackle the large bodies of water found up north - and you'd be right. The proud owner of that tin boat would be Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson, who wrapped up his first full year on Tour just months ago.

Drawdown tactics

As summer winds down, however, things can change quickly on a drawdown lake - a reservoir where lake managers reduce the water level in late summer and early fall. Come practice for the EverStart showdown, Dan Morehead's fish were nowhere to be found. In fact, despite the amazing pre-practice, Morehead didn't catch a fish during the first day and a half of practice. The dropping lake and progressing season had caused everything to change.

University of Arkansas wins FLW College Fishing event on Lake Hamilton

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The University of Arkansas team of Kenneth Anderson and Drew Porto, both of Fayetteville, Ark., won the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference event on Lake Hamilton Sunday with five bass weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces. The victory earned the club $2,000 and advanced the team to the FLW College Fishing Southern Conference Invitational tournament.

Thill takes title on Mississippi River

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Dan Thill of La Crosse, Wis., weighed in a two-day total of 10 bass for 30 pounds, 13 ounces Sunday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Great Lakes Division Super Tournament on the Mississippi River at La Crosse. For his victory, Thill earned $5,817.

Anderson sacks ’em on Kentucky/Barkley lakes

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. - Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tenn., weighed in a two-day total of 10 bass for 43 pounds, 9 ounces Sunday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League LBL Division Super Tournament on Kentucky and Barkley lakes. For his victory, Anderson earned $5,517.
