Don't overestimate how far fish go when they move from where they were yesterday to where they are today. And don't be surprised if tomorrow they might be back where they started from.

Tuesday Tour Update: Lucas looked shallow

July 30, 2013 1:54 pm
Many of the pros on the Walmart FLW Tour love to fish shallow and for most it could be considered their strength. For guys like Justin Lucas, there are generally just a few tournaments a year where they can dissect shallow cover with a chance to do well in the event. The 2013 FLW Tour season (thanks in large part to a cooler spring) was the perfect year for the shallow guys to play to their strength in nearly every event - namely Lucas who notched his best season on tour by finishing sixth in the Angler of the Year points.

Hippensteel victorious in Detroit

July 27, 2013 8:16 pm
TRENTON, Mich. - Jim Hippensteel has been around the block enough to know how hard it is to win a tournament from the back of the boat. Numerous things have to go right, including several that are out of your control. That's why when Hippensteel's pro partner Heath Wagner turned around and retreated from a rough Lake Erie this morning, Hippensteel was convinced another opportunity at victory had slipped away.

TRENTON, Mich. - Two consecutive days without wind is a rarity on Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair. Three consecutive days is virtually unheard of and true to form, the third and final day of the EverStart Series Central Division finale was wet, windy and wild. Each of the top 10 pros started with the intention of running east to Erie, but only one ended up fishing the entire day. That brave soul was Michael Sitko.

Wagner stays on top

July 26, 2013 6:29 pm
TRENTON, Mich. - Heath Wagner received everything he asked for on day two of EverStart Series Central Division finale. Calm winds once again allowed him to reach his best spots on Lake Erie with relative ease. And once he was there, the big smallmouths bit. But his execution was lacking, so instead of a 4-pound lead, he'll head into the final day in front by just 9 ounces.
