Tuesday Tour Update: Terry talks rebound

The Walmart FLW Tour has seen a huge boost of young pros entering the scene this year. Guys like Drew Benton and Michael Neal have set the tone for many of the young guns, but there is another rookie pro quietly working his way up the ranks within the Angler of the Year standings - 21 year old Austin Terry.

When you're fishing with an old-school bass angler, nothing will sour his face faster than seeing you slip a smartphone out of your pocket to peek at your email. As understandable as that attitude is, no one can rightly deny that today's phones provide a tremendous amount of useful stuff. Such a device can be as valuable as your graph or a good landing net. In fact, your phone is more like a toolbox than a tool because each app serves a separate function.

Howard brings it home

HUDDLESTON, Va. - Winning an EverStart Series event is a feat in itself. But to do it in front of your home crowd makes it that much sweeter. Scott Howard of Evington, Va., got to soak it all in as he caught 28 pounds, 15 ounces of bass for three days of fishing from Smith Mountain Lake to win his very first EverStart Series tournament.

Nelson nailed it

HUDDLESTON, Va. - There is a first time for everything in life. In the case of Ron Nelson of Berrien Springs, Mich., it is his first time fishing an EverStart tournament and he just happened to capture his very first EverStart title. Nelson fished consistently this week - 16-15 and 16-0 on days one and two respectively - and hauled in 16 pounds today to bring his three-day total weight up to 48-15 - winning by 11 ounces. The Michigan pro not only took home the title from the first EverStart Northern Division event on Smith Mountain Lake, but he also earned a cool $32,555 for his efforts.

Cobb earns title on Lake Hartwell

LAVONIA, Ga. - Brandon Cobb of Greenwood, S.C., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 17 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Savannah River Division event on Lake Hartwell. For his victory, Cobb earned $6,807.

Brindle by an ounce on Guntersville

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. - Billy Brindle of Calhoun, Ga., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 29 pounds, 15 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Choo Choo Division event on Lake Guntersville. For his victory, Brindle earned $6,000.

Kowal captures title on Stockton

STOCKTON, Mo. - Shawn Kowal of Linn Creek, Mo., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 14 pounds, 10 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Ozark Division event on Stockton Lake. For his victory, Kowal earned $4,337.

Phillips takes Okie event on Eufaula

EUFAULA, Okla. - Justin Phillips of Checotah, Okla., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 15 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Okie Division event on Lake Eufaula. For his victory, Phillips earned $4,244.

WHITTINGTON, Ill. - Russ Rensing of Summerfield, Ill., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 14 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Illini Division event on Rend Lake. For his victory, Rensing earned $6,271.
