BIRDSEYE, Ind. - Gary Wagner of Martinsville, Ind., weighed in four bass totaling 15 pounds, 5 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Hoosier Division event on Lake Patoka. For his victory, Wagner earned $4,575.
JASPER, Texas - Todd Castledine of Nacogdoches, Texas, weighed a five-bass limit totaling 20 pounds, 1 ounce Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division event on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. For his victory, Castledine earned $5,127.
HIXSON, Tenn. - Rogne Brown of Hixson, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 40 pounds, 14 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Volunteer Division event on Lake Chickamauga. For his victory, Brown earned $4,271.

Take in an early spring tournament on just about any fishery, and you'll see dozens of anglers jerking, twitching and snapping a bevy of slender minnow-shaped jerkbaits. Yet the same select and relatively small group of anglers usually cashes the bulk of the checks on many lakes during the spring. Somehow, they manage to set themselves apart.

Buzzbaits don't all run in a straight line. A lot has to do with how the blade is cupped. When fish are taking buzzbaits, it's important to have one that veers to the right and another that goes in the opposite direction, as well as one that tracks straight.
Well, I can say I have been dreading writing the second blog of the year for Lewis Smith Lake, during the three days of official practice the weather was cold and in the upper 40's. I had just got done fishing the EverStart on my home lake of Guntersville and managed a decent finish but wasn't what I was looking for.
