Warrior River giants: Nick’s secret no more

November 29, 2012 3:32 pm
With all the facets of media these days, we are constantly blasted with sales pitches for one "top-notch fishery." Others claim, "You can catch a hundred fish a day here." Or, "Trophy smallmouths roam these waters." And my personal favorite is, "If you want to catch the fish of a lifetime, this is your place." Unfortunately, few fisheries live up to the hype. It's fair to say that with the exception of a few, typically all the hoopla turns out to be false advertising.

EverStart Series Championship recap

The EverStart Series Championship was scheduled for the Ouachita River in West Monroe, La. Having looked at past events there I knew the bite was going to be extremely tough. The weather was 82 degrees and hot and sunny. Two hours later I pulled into West Monroe and the temperature had already dropped into the 40s - eventually dropping into the 30s overnight.
